in my first dnd game, they told me that my bard could have like three instruments. i went with lute because it was a given, and a mini trumpet because i thought it’d be cool. my third one was a harmonica for, verbatim, “to play the blues when i get arrested”
like i had no plans to actually utilize a harmonica save for playing it in prison, because knowing my group, it was inevitable that we’d get there at some point.
