Walmart makes like $500 billion annually, none of its employees should be paid a wage below the poverty level
Wal-Mart just got a 14% tax break and they’re raising their workers’ pay by $2/hour. That’s about $300/month before taxes for a FT worker and we know only half of their employees are FT. Meanwhile, they cut approx. 12,000 jobs (1k corporate and 11k via Sam’s Club store closings) – although they’re not advertising that.
Clearly, the Wal-Mart CEO is playing PR stunt for Trump but the fact is that shareholders and top management will benefit most – almost completely – from this tax law. Not workers. They throw a couple dollars to the people so they’re still underpaid but not AS underpaid and then stash millions for themselves.
