anyways, The devs over at Heavy Thought Studios, who created The Office Type, are simply racist. Them’s just the facts. 

They’re going to excuse and justify their racism however they see possible. They banned a bunch of Black folks (including me) from their Discord because 1 or 2 people were being excessively sarcastic and posting comparisons of their characters to other racist caricatures in other media. 

They allowed users to claim that maybe we weren’t really Black people and were instead just “professionally offended people”. Others claimed they were being sent into anxiety attacks, scared for their lives because we dared to come in and criticize their uwu progressive media. No criticism from the mods, no “hey guys let’s not stereotype here”.

This type of behavior isn’t indicative of a group of people who support or respect the groups they’re supposed to be representing. Between Twitter, Tumblr, and now their Discord channel, the people associated with the Heavy Thought Studios team have shown that the only voices they really care about are the ones who will echo and cheer on anything they say or do.

The Office Type game has been critiqued since it’s launch for a number of reasons, and this newest display of racism is just another nail in the coffin. People who continue to choose to support this game because “but they offer a third gender!” are being hypocritical. The only representation you care about is anything that doesn’t directly harm you. You don’t care about actual accurate images or equitable characterization, and neither do the devs.

Tokenism isn’t a valid form of representation. Ignoring the groups you’re “representing” or telling them that they’re simply misunderstanding you, or not giving you a chance, or are undermining your work that they should be grateful for is not a responsible way to handle criticism. 

Also their third gender options suck anyways there’s literally nothing good about this game in terms of representation.
