#DOWNWITHCIS

gofundme to get these ladies a bus

Jesus Christ, you think the article embedded in this one:

might have something to do with the fact that these women have fuckin had it with taking abuse from random douchebags?

minor provocation….slur that may or may have not been transphobic

lol, totally responsible and not weasel-worded reporting from “lgbtqnation”

Besides the “related” link they stuck in there (while not actually discussing hate crimes and violence toward trans women anywhere in the article itself), they also made no mention of the recent Extremely Vocal And Well-Funded Campaign to stoke up cis people’s aggression towards trans women in the UK:

We spoke to taxi drivers, approached gangs of lads on bikes….Manchester men in Moss side are very concerned to protect their daughters

This is a campaign that spent 40k on a full-page ad in the Metro. But why provide any context for what trans women in the UK are experiencing?

So some aggressively misogynist man started harassing some trans women, calling them “Trannies” or “Faggots” or whatever – and when one person starts openly harassing and confronting trans women, they’re actively inciting others to join in. They’re saying “I can beat the shit out of you, Right Now, and people will probably help me instead of helping you"

i.e., this is literally just a case of Aggressive Violent Misogynist Man Starts Harassing And Threatening Women In Public Area Late At Night – The Women Stand Up For Themselves, Serves Him Right

But because the violent misogynist man was harassing and potentially inciting a hate crime against trans women, this is instead spun as “look at how violent these transes are, mobbing this poor fellow”…..and the questions of Misogyny, Men’s Aggression And Violence Toward Women, Harassment And Misogynist/Transphobic Slurs As Threats Of Violence, etc. are all pushed to the side, even by nominal Feminists.

Using a slur against someone isn’t the same thing as being Rude. Using a slur against someone in a subway station late at night is saying

“I might be about to attack you. I bet there are other lads here who hate you too and would be happy to join in. You’re disposable and defenseless. This situation you’re in right now? This is the last thing a lot of people like you see before your lights go out. And if not this time, maybe next time, or the time after that. We’ll get you eventually. You should be afraid to be in public.”

It’s not being Rude or Disagreeable, it’s harassment and an active threat, with the intention of traumatizing trans women and making the world as harrowing and unlivable for us as possible.

So for the article’s reporting to just be

minor provocation….slur that may or may have not been transphobic

is incredibly irresponsible and pathetic lmao
