Personally, I think the glow takes away from the expression of the male’s face. I think it’s mainly just the shape of the glow effect. If it were more oval, I feel it’d look alright.

As for the female’s, I don’t think it’s as bad. Their eyes were more round to begin with, so a perfectly round glow doesn’t feel too different.
